If you find yourself in Kiruna early in the season, we have an exceptional adventure awaiting you – the Husky Northern Lights Training Tour! This after-dark escapade is the perfect way to connect with our team of 40 sled dogs, and Kiruna’s low light pollution makes it a prime location for experiencing the mesmerizing Aurora Borealis. Our Homebase, nestled far from the city’s bright lights, offers an ideal spot to witness this natural spectacle. While we can’t guarantee a light show, we highly recommend checking the Aurora forecast on Aurora Reach for the best chances on our Husky Northern Lights Training Tour.
As you explore the Arctic wilderness in autumn, prepare for an unforgettable adventure that combines nature, a plethora of friendly huskies, and the cherished Swedish tradition of Fika. Get ready for an exhilarating forest ride that might be a bit bumpy!
Starting in September, we embark on the training journey with our athletic sled dogs, gearing them up for the winter season and racing events. Depending on the weather, our dedicated trainers work with them for up to an hour or two each day. In warmer temperatures, when their thick coats provide warmth, we reduce training hours to prevent overheating, especially when the mercury climbs above 5°C.
Our dogs are incredibly friendly and relish the opportunity to play and cuddle with you. With our pack accustomed to spending time together in free play, it’s not unusual to see over 40 dogs frolicking around the yard. They are always excited to meet new people, making it a truly delightful experience for dog lovers.
After your thrilling tour, we invite you to warm up with a cup of coffee and indulge in a traditional Swedish Fika in our charming Laavu.
Our homebase and kennels are conveniently situated in Kalixforsbron, just a 20-30 minute drive from Kiruna.
You’ll spend most of your time outdoors and in close proximity to the dogs, so make sure you dress appropriately and feel comfortable around canines.
In case of heavy rainfall, the yard and the trail we traverse may become muddy. We offer overalls and boots for your use if needed.
